Preface written at York, UK September 13, 1830. Owner's Inscription dated June, 1831. 518pp. Sermon titles include, The Gospel Harvest, The Claims of Revealed Truth, Christian Discipleship, The Sensual and Worldly Exposed, Forgiveness, Pilgrimage of the Saints, Apostasy, The Martyrdom of Stephen, Inadequate Impressions of Religion, The Christian Sabbath, The Heavenly Substance, Unsanctified Riches, The Hour of Atonement, The Believer's Confidence, A Call to Early Devotedness, The Eleventh Hour, The Minister's Joy, The Diffusion of the Divine Glory, and National Judgments. James Parsons was a popular preacher at York. Salem Chapel was built in 1839 to house his congregation. The chapel accommodated nearly 1,700 persons. The cost was £5,000. Parsons was elected to the Presidency of the Congregational Union in 1849.
